Tips for Finding Job Candidates on LinkedIn

Review your own profile. 

When you reach out to potential candidates, they will first look at your profile to make sure that you are legitimate. In addition to including your current employer, be sure that your profile reflects your role as a hiring manager or recruiter. 

Add the Hiring Badge to your profile. 

By using the LinkedIn Hiring page on your profile, you can stand out to potential candidates, including those searching on LinkedIn. The Badge has shown to improve recruiting efforts. 

Use the LinkedIn Search feature. 

LinkedIn offers the ability to search for candidates based on numerous criteria, including job title, experience, location and college. You can also filter results based on connections, meaning candidates who are also connected to your LinkedIn connections display first. 

Review the profile. 

By using the LinkedIn profiles as a resume, you can get a feel for the candidate's experience and even their willingness to take a new position. Professionals with a Looking for Work badge are actively seeking employment and likely more receptive for potential opportunities. Look at recommendations to see what employers have to say about the professional as well check mutual connections. 

Reach out to the potential candidate. 

Once you have a candidate that may be a fit, use the LinkedIn messaging feature to reach out. Use a subject line to let them know it's an employment opportunity not spam. Be very clear in your message and if possible link to an official job opening post. 

LinkedIn offers a great way to find candidates that may not know to look for employment at your company. By using a step-by-step approach, you can efficiently use the tool to find your next favorite employee.
