Quality Engineer
A Quality Engineer ensures that all tooling, dies, and manufacturing processes meet quality standards and customer specifications. This role involves developing quality control procedures, conducting inspections, analyzing defects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize tooling performance and production efficiency.
Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Inspection:

Develop and implement quality control processes for tool and die manufacturing.

Inspect dies, molds, and tooling components to ensure precision, durability, and compliance with specifications.

Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and optical comparators for inspections.

Identify defects, root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards.

Process Improvement & Problem-Solving:

Analyze tool and die production processes to identify opportunities for quality enhancement and waste reduction.

Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies to optimize tooling efficiency.

Collaborate with production, design, and maintenance teams to address tooling-related issues and implement corrective actions.

Testing & Validation:

Develop and execute test plans for tool and die performance under production conditions.

Ensure tools and dies meet durability, dimensional accuracy, and functional requirements.

Maintain thorough documentation of test results, inspections, and validation procedures.

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100, depending on the sector.

Keep up to date with regulatory requirements and integrate them into quality management practices.

Conduct internal and external audits to verify compliance with quality standards.

Supplier & Customer Interaction:
-
Work with suppliers to ensure raw materials and tooling components meet required specifications.
-
Address customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Provide technical support and recommendations to improve customer satisfaction and product performance.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, corrective action records, and compliance certifications.

Prepare reports on tooling performance, defect trends, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in tool and die quality management may be considered.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in quality control, tooling, or die manufacturing.

Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

Experience with CMM programming and operation.
-
Knowledge of metal stamping, injection molding, and die maintenance processes.
-
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems (QMS).

Certifications (Preferred):

Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)
-
ASQ certification in quality control.
