Resident Advisor (RA)
A local Jamestown company is looking for a Residential Advisor (RA). The Residential Advisor plays a crucial role in helping youth residents stay on track with the organizations at risk program. Their primary responsibility is to create a positive and safe living environment for the residents under their care. The right candidate will have a positive demeanour, a passion for helping underprivileged youths, and will have prior experience working in the human services field.
Responsibilities

Foster a sense of community and belonging among residents by organizing and participating in social and educational events.

Promote diversity and inclusivity by creating a welcoming and respectful living environment for all residents.

Provide assistance and support to residents facing personal, academic, or emotional challenges.

Serve as a resource for residents seeking information about campus or community resources.

Respond to emergencies, such as medical issues, conflicts, or security concerns, and take appropriate actions.

Report and document incidents and communicate effectively with the appropriate authorities.

Ensure residents adhere to housing and community standards by monitoring and reporting policy violations.

Collaborate with residence life staff to address rule violations and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.

Conduct regular safety inspections and report maintenance issues to the appropriate facilities management team.

Promote and enforce safety procedures and emergency evacuation protocols within the residential area.

Maintain accurate records of resident interactions, incident reports, and community programming.

Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies and procedures.

Mediate conflicts between residents, promoting open communication and conflict resolution skills.

Act as a liaison between residents and housing administration in resolving disputes.
Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Empathy, patience, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
