Director of Environmental Health and Safety
Responsibilities

Maintains and ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state rules, regulations, and code standards; interprets regulations on relevant issues to provide practical guidance, support, and training aimed at maintaining and developing best practices.

Directs the assessment for physical/chemical/laboratory safety and environmental protection functions; reviews with appropriate management and staff, as well as Safety Committees, to implement and execute programs for the prevention and control of EHS risks, including, but not limited to, prevention of injuries, industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, laboratory compliance, hazardous waste and EPA/OSHA compliance, records, and permits.

Advises leaders on performance improvements; leads improvement initiatives; directs departments on specific regulatory safety and environmental issues by education and training programs

Lead the Safety Committee to develop company-wide safety standards that represent industry best practices and comply with applicable regulations.

Initiate and lead programs to create a sustainable world-class safety culture.

Communicate and engage people at all levels and roles in safety.

Develop and conduct training on a variety of topics related to safety and regulatory programs, initiatives, and awareness.

Maintain Underwriter Laboratories product safety Mark and develop the ability to interface with UL Field Engineers

Analyzes and develops environmental health and safety information reporting, consolidating and reporting key EHS statistics monthly, quarterly or annually, as required by outside agencies

Conduct investigations of work-related incidents, ensures complete reporting and recommendations for remedial action

Maintain a system of record for safety initiatives.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, ROHS, etc.).
Qualifications and Skills
-
Minimum of five (5) years of leadership in field, production, or other relevant area of experience in manufacturing
-
5-10 years of experience in safety technical areas such as Fall protection, LOTO; Electrical (arc flash, PPE, troubleshooting, high voltage); conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, developing hazard control programs, and developing and publishing written safety and compliance programs.

In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (Federal and applicable State programs).

Experience with environmental regulations helpful.

Experience in an advanced technological metal fabrication environment.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Proficient in the application of PC

Safety-focused, organized, and passionate about safety performance.

High degree of attention to detail.

Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice

Self-motivated with a high degree of personal accountability.

Experience or familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
